Electric Fence Wire & Tape
Electric Fence Wire & Tape
The livestock on your farm are a big part of your Life Out Here. To stay healthy and happy, they need to spend plenty of time outdoors, feeding and staying physically active. The right electric fencing can help safeguard them from predators while they’re afield. Shop the wire and tape you’ll need to set it up effectively at Tractor Supply.
Powerful Perimeter Protection
Wire and tape are key parts of electric fences, attaching to their posts via insulators and clamps and conducting electricity down their lines. They’re more commonly used to build temporary enclosures, often paddocks where livestock can get exercise or fields where they can graze. If you’re looking for a stronger barrier to deter wildlife, you may want to consider netting.
Wire
Commonly used in cattle pens and sheep and goat enclosures, wire fencing comes in two kinds. High-tensile wire is used to help build permanent electric fences, while polywire can be found in temporary or portable setups. Both are typically made of a combination of metals, such as stainless steel, copper or tinned copper, and they’re often galvanized and coated with a layer of plastic to make them weather-resistant. The heavier or thicker the wire gauge, the more durable and conductive the wire or tape, with turbo wires capable of sending a stronger current along a fence line.
Tape
Comprised of conductive metal strands, which are woven into polyethylene or nylon, polytape is more common in portable and temporary electric fences. Because its wider than wire and available in different high-visibility colors, it's easier for animals to see, not to mention more resistant to wind and animal pressure. This makes it ideal for building electric fences to contain horses.
